Dishwasher Job Description

Hours: 15 hrs/week

Days: Mondays 8:30am-2pm, Tuesdays 8:30am-2pm, and Wednesdays or Fridays 8:30am-2pm

Pay Range: $10-$14 per hour

Job Summary

The Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning dishes for Luke 14:12 non-profit soup kitchen in Nashville on 1) Mondays, 2) Tuesdays and 3) Fridays or Wednesdays. This person will work closely with the Executive Director, Assistant Director and other kitchen and dining staff. Applicants should be able to follow instructions, dependable, and willing to improve on the job.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting washing dishes, taking out the trash, and sweeping and mopping the kitchen and dining area, as well as assisting the Luke 14:12 kitchen staff during meal prep and service, ensuring that the kitchen has a steady supply of clean plates, bowls, silverware, pots, pans and glasses, as well as prioritizing loads of different types of dishes that need to be washed. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Wash all sliver, dishware, pots pans and cooking utensils

  • Working effectively with a small kitchen team

  • Following instructions created by supervisors

  • Assist with other small kitchen tasks deemed necessary by supervisors

  • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen.

  • Assist with kitchen and dining room clean-up at the end of meal preparation and meal service, including removing trash and clearing storage bins.

Qualifications:

  • Physical endurance to work five-hour shifts, three times each week in a commercial kitchen environment, ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times a day, to place cases, pans, utensils and plates on both low and high shelves, to work in damp environments, to respond to emergency situations to avoid endangering themselves or others

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

  • Other kitchen duties as determined by the Executive Director or Assistant Director
